New Classes: Starting June 27 and June 29

Adult Session 3 and Junior Program Session A are about to begin! Adult Basic Sailing (ABS-3) and Adult Advanced Sailing (AAV-3) will be on Saturday and Sunday of June 27-28 and July 4 and 5. Adult Advanced will start at 9:30am and end at 12:30pm and Adult Basic will begin at 3pm and end at 6pm. There will also be a Connecticut Safe Boating Certification course this coming Saturday, June 27, lasting from 9am until 5pm. More information on the Safe Boating Certification course will be posted soon.

New Junior Program classes will begin on Monday, June 29. Start Boating Right (SBR-A) will meet from 11:30am-2:30 pm on Monday-Friday during June 29-July 10. Performance Sailing (NOM-A1) will meet from 9:30am-12:30pm on Monday-Friday of June 29-July 3. Safe Boating Certification for Juniors (SBJ-A2) will meet at 2:30-5:00pm on Monday-Friday of June 29-July 3. Introduction to Catamarans (IC-A1) will meet from 9:30am-12:00pm on Mon-Fri of June 29-July 3. Advanced Catamaran Sailing (AC-A2) will meet from 2:30-5:00pm Mon-Fri of June 29-July 3. Finally, Kayaking Adventures for 8-11 year olds (KY-A1) will meet from 9:30am-12:00pm Mon-Fri of June 29-July 3.

As a reminder, Session 1 still continues and will end on Friday, July 3. There are still spaces available in the Safe Boating Certification course this Saturday, and the Adult Session 3 and Junior Session A classes. June 27 Safe Boating Class

The June 27, 2009 Safe Boating class will be held at Saugatuck Rowing Club in Westport, CT. Class will begin at 9:00 am and last until 5:00 pm. Please bring a pen, pencil, and bagged lunch as we will have a working lunch break.

Saugatuck Rowing Club is located at 521 Riverside Ave in Westport.

Directions from I-95 South:

Take Exit 17.  Make a left at the end of the ramp.  Go to the next light and make a sharp right.  The boathouse is on the left approximately 200 yards from the light.

Directions from I-95 North:

Take Exit 17.  At the end of the ramp continue going straight for approximately ¼ mile to the T-junction.  Turn left and proceed through 2 lights.  The boathouse is located 50 yards down on the right.

Directions from Merritt Parkway South

Take Exit 41.  Take a right at the end of the ramp onto Rte. 33.  Proceed on Rte. 33 to the fourth light.  Turn left at the fork onto Riverside Avenue.  The boathouse is approximately 200 yards down to the left.

Directions from Merritt Parkway North:

Take Exit 41.  Take a left at the end of the ramp onto Rte. 33 and continue with directions from Merritt Parkway South.

New Classes: Starting June 22

Longshore Sailing School’s Junior Program Session 1 starts this Monday, June 22.

The following classes will meet Monday-Friday from June 22-July 3:
There will be two Start Boating Right courses (SBR-11, which meets from 9:30am-12:30pm and SBR-12, which meets from 1:30-4:30pm), two Basic Sailing courses (BAS-13 which will meet from 9:30am-12:30pm, and BAS-14 which will meet from 1:30-4:30pm), an Intermediate Sailing class (INT-15 which will meet from 9:30am-12:30pm), and an Advanced Sailing class (ADV-16, which meets from 9:30am-12:30pm).

There also will be three classes that will only last for the week of June 22-26:
Performance Sailing (NOM-11 which meets from 9:30am-12:30pm), and Intro to Catamaran Sailing (IC-11) and Kayaking Adventures for ages 8-11 (KY-11) which both meet from 9:30am-12pm.

As a reminder, Session 0 continues onto its second week and will be ending on Friday June 26. Longshore is excited to start its regular junior program. We can’t wait to see all of our students!
